Juli Matlock took foundations at the end of January of this year.  Before that, she used weight machines and free weights following her own program.  After hearing rumblings about something called CrossFit, curiosity got the best of her and she searched for a location near her work. (Juli is a hairdresser at her own studio, Renew Hair Studio, very close to Talon, if you’re in need of a new stylist!)

73371_613826211993476_560065264_nAfter her first Foundations class, Juli explains, “I couldn’t walk!  Epsom salts and 800mg a day were my friends for three weeks!  But I am stubborn, and kept up with it.”  In just a few short months, Juli has greatly improved on all of her lifts, and has even been the WOD BOB.  She also competed for the first time in Takes 2 To Tango a couple of weeks ago, her partner and her placing tenth out of seventeen in her division.  “I loved it, and will be doing more competitions,” Juli says.

When asked what has changed for her since joining CrossFit, Juli says, “My energy level has gone way up, which eating Paleo has helped with too, and more strength.  I need strength and energy for my son!”  She is glad she found CrossFit, because it the constant variations keep her interested.  “I never wanted to go work out, now, I hate it when I miss,” she explains, “I also have constant support at Talon, a real sense of family.”
